Football FanCast’s News articles summarise the biggest stories in world football, based on information from other sources.

According to Rob Tanner at the Athletic, Dennis Praet's move to the King Power Stadium is progressing and should be announced before the 5pm deadline later this afternoon.

It is thought that the Sampdoria midfielder has completed his medical ahead of the transfer whilst Callum Elder is expected to depart the club permanently.

Sky Sports had earlier reported on Thursday that Leicester had agreed an £18m deal with Sampdoria for the 25-year-old and the player had arrived in the Midlands this morning ahead of a busy day of ironing out the details on his move.

His soon to be former boss Eusebio Di Francesco said that he would miss him, labelling the creative outlet as one of the best midfielders in Italy.

Verdict

Leicester City may not need another midfielder having signed both Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans permanently this summer to complement the talented James Maddison, but Praet adds a dimension to Brendan Rodgers' system that they currently lack as we have suggested here.

He can offer the side more security on the ball and even defensively after averaging a pass success rate of 87.3% per game last season. That was higher than both Maddison and Tielemans.

The 25-year-old also averaged 1.9 tackles per game, again higher than either player.

Just how well he does in England if the move now goes through will be fascinating to see.
