Leicester fan favourite unlikely to be at the club next season

The Leicester Mercury are reporting that Leicester City are preparing to make bids for alternative targets as it looks increasingly unlikely that veteran midfielder Esteban Cambiasso will be at the club next season.

Although the Foxes are believed to be keen to see the Argentinian and last season’s player of the year sign a new contract, he is yet to put pen to paper on the deal that is currently on the table.

The King Power Stadium outfit were willing to give the 34-year-old ample time to consider his next move after he said he wanted to take time out to think about his future at the end of last season.

But with the new campaign just three weeks away, and City two weeks into their pre-season preparations, it looks unlikely that Cambiasso will be at the club come August, which may force the Foxes to bid for alternative targets.

Leicester recently appointed former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri as their new boss, replacing the sacked Nigel Pearson.
