Leicester City fans have praised Harvey Barnes for his showing against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Foxes cruised to a 2-0 win to seal their progression to the fourth round.

Brendan Rodgers made a number of changes for the clash, leaving out the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison.

But Barnes stepped up in their absence, scoring the Foxes’ second goal of the game after Tom Pearce’s first-half own goal.

And supporters were quick to praise the winger for his contribution.

Indeed, a number of other fans were all the more pleased with his contribution because of his positional change.

He was deployed at the tip of the spear, playing up front in Vardy’s regular position.

Per Transfermarkt, he has never played as a striker before, only being deployed as a second striker while he was at West Bromwich Albion.

That game, unfortunately, ended in a 1-0 defeat to Hull City.

It remains to be seen if the Foxes can continue their fine run of form this season.

They are currently second in the Premier League, 13 points behind leaders Liverpool but 14 ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United. They face the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final later this week, against Aston Villa, and will soon find out their opponents in the fourth round draw, which takes place on Monday.

Whatever happens, Barnes has shown that he could play a key role.

Meanwhile, Leicester fans have swooned over one man.
