Leicester table club-record £23.2m bid for stunning attacker already likened to Neymar

Leicester have tabled a club-record €27m (£23.2m) offer for Santos’ talented forward Gabriel Barbosa, according to reports from the Guardian.

The 19-year-old Brazilian is currently being hailed as one of the finest attacking players in South America and has drawn comparisons with Barcelona’s Neymar given his potential and silky playing style.

Nicknamed ‘Gabigol’ due to his impressive goalscoring record – he’s scored 24 times in league action despite his tender age – Gabriel has attracted attention from the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in recent times, but reports claim that reigning Premier League champions Leicester have tabled a £23.2m offer.

The Foxes have broken their transfer record once this summer to sign Ahmed Musa from CSKA Moscow for £16m, but should Gabriel head to the King Power Stadium for the mooted fee he will become their most expensive player.

The teenager is currently representing Brazil at the Olympic Games and is likely to decide his future when his participation comes to an end, although Leicester had hoped for an answer before that time.
