Leicester target talented international star as they plot for UCL bow

Leicester are keen on Benfica midfielder Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez, and have already made a tentative approach to the Portuguese club ahead of a potential summer move, according to reports from A Bola.

The 26-year-old, although born in Belgium, represents Morocco at international level, and has been capped 10 times by the North African nation.

He only signed for Benfica in 2015, but reports claim that his performances for the Primeira Liga club have attracted recently crowned Premier League champions Leicester, who are sure to spend big this summer as they plot for their Champions League debut.

It’s understood that the Foxes have already made an early approach to the Lisbon club to assess their openness to a sale as well as the fees it would take to lure Carcela away from Portugal.

A silky attacking midfielder, the Moroccan’s technical approach and slender frame are not dissimilar to King Power Stadium hero, Riyad Mahrez.
