Leicester announced this week that left-back Christian Fuchs has signed a new deal with the club.
The Austrian’s contract was due to run out at the end of the season, but instead of releasing him, as they have done with Shinji Okazaki and Danny Simpson, they tied him down for another year.

The response on Twitter was mixed from Leicester supporters, but most were happy to see him sign an extension. One fan hailed the defender’s personality whilst another called him a club legend.
A host of supporters made reference to Ben Chilwell, with someone concerned that their promising star may now leave. There weren’t such worries from other members of the King Power faithful, though, as a further fan claimed Fuchs was fantastic backup to the 22-year-old, hinting that Chilwell wouldn’t be departing.
The experienced full-back has become a fan favourite at Leicester, cementing himself in club folklore after helping them win the Premier League in 2015/16. To date, he’s played 119 times for the Foxes after arriving four years ago.
Here’s the best of the reaction to his extension.
This one actually shocked me a bit. Thought you would be coming to the US but glad you will remain a fox for another year ?????

A number of times I’ve thought he should’ve been subbed on. More direct than Chilwell and the throw is a useful weapon when chasing a game. But CP and BR seem to be too purist to do that, perhaps cos we don’t have a big CF. Maybe signing CF means we will get a big man.

one of the most honest and hard working guys weve had at the club. can definately still do a job if chilwell gets injured

So Chilwell is leaving then?

Awesome news, and takes the pressure off recruiting another LB. But can’t help wondering if this would have happened had Claude still been in charge. BR clearly worth staying to work under.

Happy to see Christian Fuchs staying at the club for another year. Not only is he a club legend, but he’s also a fantastic back-up to Ben Chilwell, despite his age, and never lets you down. It also means now that we won’t have to sign a backup left-back for next year. Good news.
