No players will leave Leicester City this month, but it also appears as though supporters will have to wait until the summer for the Foxes to flex their financial might on incomings.

Earlier this month, the Daily Record reported that Brendan Rodgers was eyeing a reunion with his former striker Odsonne Edouard.

The Celtic forward could cost as much as £30m but any deal will be put on hold until the summer according to the report.

The 22-year-old is currently trying to lead the Hoops to a successive ninth title in a row but if the Frenchman does sign in the next transfer window, where would he fit in?

On the chalkboard

It’s hard to ignore Edouard’s eye-catching record in front of goal this term - so far he’s netted 16 times in just 31 outings throughout all competitions.

But he’s also got a keen eye for a pass and has registered a mightily impressive 15 assists in 2019/20 as well.

Based on statistics, Edouard is everything you’d want in a forward and would be an astute acquisition for a Leicester side who might be back in the Champions League next campaign.

The Foxes sit in the top four at the time of writing and their impressive form would be deserving of just a second season among Europe’s elite.

However, if you could place one critique on Rodgers’ men, it would be a slight overreliance on Jamie Vardy. He’s been in supreme form and leads the scoring charts in the Premier League with 17 strikes but there isn’t a huge amount to boast of behind him.

To put things bluntly, injury to their main frontman would put them in trouble.

Ayoze Perez has been inconsistent, scoring just five times while James Maddison has a record of six goals.

But with Vardy now 33 years of age, it’s no secret that he’s reaching the twilight of his career. It’s also no secret that he’s benefitted from a lack of midweek football and international breaks with England.

Call yourself a Premier League expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?

Since ruling himself out of England selection, the former title winner has continued to fire the goals in at an impressive rate but a place in Europe next term would bring more football and less chance of rest.

With that in mind, landing a striker with plenty of room to grow would be shrewd. Ultimately, it could go a long way to putting their overreliance on Vardy behind them, as well as ensuring another issue doesn’t arrive next season.

For a player who was described as someone who “oozes class” by Kris Boyd, a £30m deal would certainly be worth it for the Foxes.
