We witnessed an electric start at Upton Park with West Ham stunning Liverpool with two early goals.
In truth, it could’ve got a lot worse for Brendan Rodgers’ side before it got better with the Hammers spurning several good chances with the Reds playing like they were strangers at the back.
Eventually, Liverpool found a way back into the game with Raheem Sterling drilling a wonderful strike past West Ham ‘keeper Adrian who really had no chance.
Liverpool fans may well not have been celebrating, though, if it wasn’t for summer signing Mario Balotelli’s quick thinking. The maverick former AC Milan striker defied gravity and casually levitated in front of Sterling in order to avoid colliding with his team-mate.
