Liverpool and Arsenal face fight for Argentine playmaker

Javier Pastore (PSG)Arsenal and Liverpool will have to battle off interest from Roma if they are to seal a January deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Argentinian playmaker has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Prices in recent months after growing frustrated by the level of competition within the Ligue 1 champions’ squad.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are thought to be ready to offer him an escape route, prompting speculation of winter offers.

However, as well as the Premier League giants, Serie A heavyweights Roma are also keen.

The Italian league leaders are said to be ready to offer Pastore guaranteed action at the Stadio Olimpico with a six-month loan arrangement.

Both Pastore and PSG may be tempted by this, with the 24-year-old having previously enjoyed a successful spell in the country with Palermo, and his employers aware that impressive displays may see his value rise ahead of the summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool may still make moves, with Arsene Wenger looking to bolster his squad to stay in the title race and Brendan Rodgers keen to land a big names player after a frustrating time during the last window.

Pastore was PSG’s first major arrival after being taken over by the Qatar Investment Authority, but has struggled to match the expectations placed on his shoulders in Paris.

Should Liverpool or Arsenal do all they can to snap up Javier Pastore?
