Liverpool and Arsenal target set for showdown talks at Sevilla

Liverpool and Arsenal target Federico Fazio is set to hold showdown talks over his future with Sevilla this month, according to sources in Spain, reports talkSPORT.

The 27-year-old defender is attracting interest from a host of clubs across the continent, after a series of consistent performances in La Liga.

Liverpool and Arsenal are amongst the Premier League clubs interested in his services, whilst Everton manager Roberto Martinez is also understood to be an admirer.

Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the defender, who has been touted as a potential replacement for club legend Carlos Puyol.

However the transfer embargo currently surrounding the Catalan giants means any possibility of a deal has been postponed.

With speculation mounting over Fazio’s future, his agents are set to meet with Sevilla president Jose Castro and sporting director Monchi before Easter.

It is reported that two clubs are willing to pay £8million in order to trigger the centre backs release clause.

Arsenal are in the market for a new centre back this summer, with the future of Thomas Vermaelen still unclear, whilst Brendan Rodgers may be looking to strengthen his defence after a season that has seen the Reds concede 40 goals this season.
