Liverpool and Tottenham join race for Belgian hitman

Chrstian Benteke (Aston Villa)Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool are all monitoring Aston Villa front-man Christian Benteke, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The burly Belgian has developed into one of the Premier League’s leading attacking talents since his arrival last year, and was one of the Villains’ shining lights in an otherwise disappointing 2012/13 campaign.

Despite being embroiled a relegation dogfight and surrounding a number of inexperienced young players, Benteke still managed to find the back of the net on 23 occasions in all competitions.

His razor-sharp form led to rumours of a summer exit, which were further boosted by his decision to submit a transfer request.

However, the 22-year-old went back on his choice to pen a new contract and has made an impressive start to the new campaign.

Recent reports suggest that Tottenham are readying a £28m offer for his signature in January, while their North London rivals, Arsenal, are also keen.

Liverpool may turn their attention towards Benteke either this winter or next summer if Luis Suarez completes a move away from Anfield.

The imposing hit-man may be tempted to stay with Villa until at least the end of the season in a bid to maintain a spot in Belgium’s squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

Arsenal? Tottenham? Liverpool? Aston Villa? Which would be the best club for Christian Benteke to choose?
