Liverpool and Tottenham target Bernard has hinted that he could be set for a summer transfer away from Atletico Mineiro, according to reports from The Independent.

The Premier League duo have both been tracking the Brazilian wonderkid for some time, and have been impressed by his consistent displays in his home country.

The versatile attacker is thought to be keen to secure a big move to Europe, after breaking into the national team at the age of 20.

The likes of Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto – all of whom can offer Champions League football – are also in the race, but some reports suggest that England is the most attractive option to the youngster.

Speaking ahead of his side’s Copa Libertadores final second leg, Bernard admitted that this could be his last game for Atletico Mineiro:

“Regardless of whether it is my last game, it will be one of the most important titles of my career. Libertadores is very important for the club and for the players.” He said.

“I will do my best to make the fans happy, because moments like this may not happen again.”

His current employers value him at around £20m, but it is thought that an offer in the region of £18m may be enough to push through a move.

Is Bernard really worth the fuss? Or should Tottenham and Liverpool be looking at more established players?
