Liverpool & Arsenal boosted in race for Italian star

Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a boost in the race for Italian ‘bad boy’ Mario Balotelli, with reports from Tuttosport suggesting that AC Milan have lowered their demands to £14m.

‘Mad Mario’ looks set to end his 18-month stint with the Rossoneri this summer after growing frustrated with life in his homeland and the racial abuse he has suffered on numerous occasions during domestic games.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with the 23-year-old, although the former’s interest is thought to have cooled since the Azzurri’s illumination from the World Cup.

Milan were reportedly demanding £30m for their goal-getter, but now they are ready to end the drama surrounding the player’s future quickly by accepting offers of around £14m.

This may tempt the Reds in, with Luis Suarez having been sold to Barcelona for close to £80m.

Balotelli himself might be tempted by a return to England, where he was admired by large numbers of fans during his spell for Manchester City.

The madcap forward is famous for his off-field incidents, but is widely seen as one of the most talented strikers in European football.
