Liverpool & Arsenal in battle for World Cup winner

Arsenal and Liverpool are both considering shock summer moves for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 33-year-old Spanish stopper has long been considered to be one of the planet’s very best glovesmen, but his form has declined in recent seasons.

Although the main man between the sticks for Real this term, Casillas is a shadow of the goalie he was when he helped Spain to World Cup and European Championship success, with routine errors having crept into his game.

Despite this, Liverpool and Arsenal are thought to be keen, and have been buoyed by suggestions that he’s ready to leave the Bernabeu after 16 years of service.

The experienced ‘keeper is due to be out of contract in 2017 and is not getting any younger, so a minimal fee is likely to be enough for his signature.

Although Liverpool and Arsenal’s goalkeeping situations are not the worry they were over the Christmas period now, the duo are said to be watching the situation.
