After joining the Serie A outfit last summer for £32 million, Higuain became in instant hit, netting 24 times in his debut season as Rafael Benitez’s side finished third in the league.
However the team from Naples have endured a torrid start to the new campaign, winning a single game in their opening four league fixtures and getting knocked out of the Champions League in a qualification play-off against Athletic Bilbao.
Higuain was omitted from the squad for Napoli’s 3-3 draw with Palermo on Wednesday, which has fuelled rumours that the striker is seeking an exit from the club.
Arsenal were on the verge of capturing the player’s signature before his eventual move to Italy and Liverpool have long been admirers, however Higuain is adamant that he is going nowhere and is happy at Napoli.
“Am I happy to play for Napoli? It is a fantastic city to play football,” he is quoted by talkSPORT.
“I came here gladly and it is a marvellous city.”
