Liverpool duo lead Premier League statistics

Liverpool are in fine form at the moment, with their 6-1 drubbing of Watford yesterday afternoon sending the Reds top of the Premier League and extending their unbeaten record in all competitions to 12 matches.

Jurgen Klopp has managed to get the best out of a very talented squad, who underperformed at stages last season, and the Reds look to be real contenders for a league title that has eluded the Merseyside giants for 26 years.

Liverpool’s fine displays this season are down to superb cohesion in the team, whilst there is still room for individual success- which has left the Reds with a very capable side, who boast a number of in-form players.

Amongst the star performers this season are Philippe Coutinho, who’s back to his best, and summer signing Sadio Mane, who has already shown himself to be worth his monumental price-tag.

Between them, they have created 14 chances in the Premier League this season and it’s better than any other duo in the top-flight.

It’s not just creating chances though, the pair have been very effective at putting opportunities away and ensuring that the chances they create are decisive- as Coutinho has five goals and five assists this season, whilst Mane boasts six goals and two assists.

The pair are top of Liverpool’s goal-scoring charts, with Roberto Firmino also on five, whilst only four players have scored more than Mane in the Premier League this season.
