Liverpool open talks with Everton target

Liverpool are understood to be in negotiations with Grenada over the transfer of their star left back , according to the Daily Star.

The news will come as a bitter blow to Everton manager Roberto Martinez, who had identified the £7million rated full back as the ideal replacement for Leighton Baines, who could yet make a summer switch to Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old – who has also been attracting interest from Real Madrid and Galatasary – now looks set for Liverpool, after Brendan Rodgers identified him as the man to compete with Jose Enrique for the left back position at Anfield.

Sources in Spain suggest Granada will listen to opening offers of no lower than £8million, with the player under contract until 2017.

He in fact has a release clause in his contract of £21m, although the Reds are confident of landing him for considerably less than that.

Siqueira recently spoke of his future, and revealed his club had blocked a big money move to Valencia last summer.

“I had a very good offer from Valencia last year and the club decided not to sell me,” the player said.

“I simply told the club’s president that if there is another offer this year, that he should let me make my dream of playing for a big European club come true.
“He said yes, that he would help me. And this is what’s going on. If the offers that are coming are good for the club and for me, I think it’s the right moment to sell me.”
