Liverpool are considering a summer move for former defensive target Ashley Williams from Swansea City, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 30-year-old has been targeted by Reds manager Brendan Rodgers for two seasons now, and after a string of strong performances this year, he is once again being monitored.
Despite only signing Dejan Lovren for £20million in the summer, the Croatia international has failed to replicate the form that saw him become a key member of the Southampton squad last season.
This is leading Rodgers to consider some extra defensive reinforcements to fill his three-man back line, where one of the stand out performers has been midfielder Emre Can.
Williams only has a year left on his current deal with Swansea, but Garry Monk is already looking to further extend the stay of the Wales international.
He has been a key member for the Swans this season, starting all 32 of his club’s Premier League games so far.
