Liverpool star faces five-match ban for controversial Instagram post

Mario Balotelli is never far away from the limelight, unfortunately recently it has been for all the wrong reasons.

The Italian has struggled to convince anyone at Liverpool he was worth the £16million paid to AC Milan for his services, but now is under more scrutiny after Balotelli posted a picture of the gaming icon ‘Super Mario’ with the tag ‘jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew’, according to the Telegraph.

Now the 24-year-old will face an investigation from the English Football Association, possibly earning the controversial striker a five-match ban for his ‘racist and anti-Semitic post’.

The post has thus been deleted, after there were angry reactions from the Jewish community.

“We abhor all forms of racism, wherever it is found,” Simon Johnson, former FA member and now chief executive of the Jewish Leadership Council said.

“We call upon the FA to investigate this offensive social media post and to take action if appropriate if we are to succeed in kicking racism out of football.”

The club will also be speaking to Balotelli over his post to ensure that the he learns his lesson, despite the player defending his stance by tweeting: “My mom is Jewish so all of you shut up please.”
