Real Madrid striker Karin Benzema claims that he wants to stay at the Spanish club despite being linked with a move to England, as reported by Sky Sports.
The France international is now the main striker at the Bernabeu after the sales of Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon in the summer and has already notched 14 league goals this season.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the 26 year old, to join Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in attack, however it will take a big money bid for Madrid to take interest.
Benzema, who played a major part in Real’s win yesterday against Elche, wants to stay in the Spanish capital and believes this is his year to become the main man.
“I am happy here. I only think of Real Madrid and I consider that this could be my big year,” Benzema told Spanish news outlet Marca.
“For me it was very hard to hear cries from the grounds in the Bernabeu but I have matured and now the situation is different,” he added.
“The support from Zidane was key for my morale recovery.”
