Liverpool trolled as Iranian Messi completes move to Arsenal

Arsenal pranksters have caused quite a stir by confirming on Wikipedia that Arsene Wenger has successfully signed Rubin Kazan striker Sardar Azmoun, a player who is dubbed the Iranian Lionel Messi.

Based on the Gunners’ page, they have already handed the 20-year-old the number five shirt with his name being included in the club’s first team squad list (shown below).

Liverpool were also monitoring his situation, and we assume the Reds’ fan base may have been in for quite a shock if one of their transfer targets silently completed a move to their Premier League rivals.

However, as fast as the information was uploaded, Wikipedia was swiftly alerted and the false additions have since been removed.

Azmoun currently plays for Russian side Rubin Kazan, where he has attracted attention in his relatively limited first-team role.

He has represented Iran on eight occasions at international level, netting four goals in the process.
