Liverpool target Adama Traore impressed on Wednesday against Manchester United

Liverpool’s transfer business appears to be all but over during this January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp has said that there are unlikely to be any new signings to arrive at Anfield before the end of the month, meaning that Takumi Minamino will be the only addition to the first-team squad.

However, that does not mean that there has not been intense speculation in regards to potential arrivals – whether that be this window or in the summer – with the likes of Sandro Tonali (Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness) being linked.

One of those also rumoured to be of interest to the Reds, Adama Traore, was in action for Wolves in the FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday. Whilst the former Barcelona youth product was unable to get himself on the score-sheet, he still put in a fantastic display that terrorised the Manchester United defence at times.

The big fat Liverpool quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Anfield?

In January 2019, by how many centimetres were Liverpool denied scoring a goal against Manchester City?

As per Sofascore, the 23-year-old completed a huge nine dribbles out of the ten that he attempted, which was more than twice as many as the next man on the list from either side, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (4). He also managed two key passes as well, which was only bettered by Anthony Martial (4) and Joao Moutinho (3).

It was a display that was almost flawless. He landed 75% of the crosses he attempted, and won 14 out of the 18 ground duels he took part in. He also completed two tackles as well, showing the kind of defensive work that Klopp would appreciate.

Should Liverpool sign Adama Traore?

It has been reported that Wolves want at least £70m for one of their most-prized assets. That may seem like a huge fee, but performances like this show that it could be a wise investment. Usually a right-winger, this display came on the left, showing that Traore has a bit more versatility to his game and could plug more than one gap in Liverpool’s forward line should the likes of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane be ruled out.

With four goals and four assists in the top flight so far, the Spaniard is impressing this term. This showing against the Reds’ arch-rivals should convince Klopp to make him a priority in the summer. Under his guidance, the end product that even the winger has accepted needs a lot of work may further improve, making him the finished article. It could well be a match made in heaven.

Elsewhere, Liverpool signing this 24-year-old could see them finally replace Philippe Coutinho.
