Adrian has posted an emotional and heartfelt tweet following Liverpool's defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The former West Ham glovesman had very little to do on the night as he watched his outfield teammates take 34 shots across 120 minutes - he had to make just three saves against Diego Simeone's men.

However, almost immediately after Roberto Firmino had put Liverpool ahead in the tie, the Spaniard made a mistake in passing the ball out to Joao Felix, who played Marcos Llorente in to score.

That moment appeared to stun the Reds, and the side from the Spanish capital went on to score two more goals in extra-time to knock the Champions League holders out of the competition - admittedly, Jurgen Klopp's side were wasteful in front of goal, but Adrian's error cost them dearly.

After their exit from Europe was confirmed, the 33-year-old - who is rated at £4.5m on Transfermarkt - took to Twitter to share his thoughts on a tough night for himself and the club.
