Liverpool bounced back from their Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid last week by beating West Ham 3-2 at Anfield on Monday night.

They did it the hard way, though. With 22 minutes left on the clock, they trailed the Hammers 2-1 on a night when they were far from their best.

Even then, they had Lukasz Fabianski to thank for his blunder from Mohamed Salah's rather tame effort.

After drawing level, though, they had momentum on their side, and Sadio Mane was able to score the winner in the final 10 minutes of the match.

As has so often been the case over the last 19 months or so, Trent Alexander-Arnold was the Reds' main creative force. He provided two assists, which takes him to 12 in the Premier League for the campaign - as many as he managed last season. He now has 14 in all competitions this term, which is the most amongst his teammates.

Unsurprisingly, there were plenty of glowing endorsements for the 21-year-old.

Below, we picked out three of the best.

Ian Doyle, Chief Liverpool writer, The Liverpool Echo

Ian Doyle is the main Reds reporter for the region's biggest outlet, and he was glowing in his review of the England international. As part of his post-match player ratings, he wrote, per Liverpool Echo:

"Excellent cross for the opener and close with one drive across the face and a free-kick. Didn’t give up on the ball to assist the third. Easily Liverpool's best player."

The two assists were fantastic, and fully displayed some of his top qualities, such as his vision and fighting spirit, thus warranting his 8/10 score from Doyle.

There is no doubt that he was Liverpool's best player during the 90 minutes, as his 8.2 SofaScore rating indicates.

James Pearce, Liverpool correspondent, The Athletic

Most Liverpool fans are familiar with the name of James Pearce. He spent many years with The Liverpool Echo before moving to The Athletic last year, and is now their main source of news related to the European champions.

In a Q&A after Liverpool's victory, he summed up his admiration for the star right-back by labelling him as man of the match, per The Athletic:

"Salah equalised thanks to Fabianski's blunder and then Mane won it for the Reds after great work from Alexander-Arnold, who was my man of the match."

It is hard to argue with that based on Alexander-Arnold's performance. His creativity was a huge factor in the Reds grabbing all three points, and just goes to show why he is considered by many to be the best right-back in the world right now - just look at last year's Ballon d'Or rankings.

Jamie Carragher, ex-Liverpool star and Sky Sports pundit

Jamie Carragher has played with many great players, and has appeared at the very highest of levels - he won a Champions League final and also represented his country at a World Cup.

He is not a man who is easy to impress, but he waxed lyrical about the full-back on Monday. He said of the Liverpudlian, per Sky Sports:

"In the best team in Europe, the best playmaker is a right-back from West Derby. It's mad. It's strange. I have never seen a full-back have such an influence on a team before."

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold has created the most chances of any Liverpool player this season with 73, whilst he has also levelled the record number of assists for a defender during a single Premier League season - a record he set himself last term.

Not only that, he is the third-youngest player since 1992 to provide 25 goals after Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney.

That kind of company only goes to prove just how good he is.
