Liverpool look set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Javier Pastore, after the midfielder’s agent ruled out a summer exit for his client.
The Argentinian playmaker has been heavily linked with a big money switch to Anfield over the course of the past few months, with speculation suggesting that Brendan Rodgers is keen to offer him an escape route from the French capital.
Once hailed as one of Europe’s finest young talents, the 24-year-old has stagnated since joining PSG in 2011 in a £35m deal.
Although he netted against Chelsea in Champions League action during the week, Pastore has struggled for playing time over the course of the last year, with the Parisians having snapped up a number of talented midfielders.
Despite this, his agent, Marco Simonian, says that the silky passer is not thinking about a move:
“He feels good with his team-mates and the staff and works every day to keep playing for PSG. He thinks only of PSG, and I can assure you that this is the truth,” he is quoted by The Metro.
The news may come as a blow to Liverpool, who missed out on big name targets such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Diego Costa last year.
