Barcelona attacker Cristian Tello has revealed that he never seriously considered a summer switch to Liverpool.
The Spaniard was linked with a move away from the Nou Camp for much of the summer, with the Reds believed to be his most likely destination.
But, the 21-year-old instead elected to stay with the La Liga champions, penning a new contract which will run until 2018.
Despite the presence of players such as Pedro, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta, Tello says that he never thought about moving on.
“I always wanted to stay at Barca,” he is quoted by The Express.
“The coach has confidence in me, I am content there and ready to play a lot of minutes.
“I feel better than in previous years. I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never planned to leave.”
The youngster managed 34 appearances last season, although the majority of his game time came as a substitute.
Liverpool chief Brendan Rodgers considered a move for his services, as he set about improving his squad before the transfer window closed.
Premier League rivals Tottenham were also linked with a move for his signature, with Andre Villas-Boas believed to be a big fan of Tello’s abilities.
Liverpool fans, is it a blow to have missed out on Cristian Tello? Or will securing Victor Moses be a better deal?
