Jordan Henderson believes that Liverpool can still improve, despite making a perfect start to the season.
The Reds are the only team in the Premier League with a 100% record after three games, and sit top of the table for the first time since 2009.
Wins against Aston Villa, Stoke and Manchester United have seen the Merseysiders emerge as genuine contenders for a top four position, alongside Tottenham and Arsenal.
Even with their fine start, Henderson feels that there is still more to come:
“We’ve got a lot of momentum after the first three games of the season,” said the £20million England midfielder.
“Beating Manchester United gave us a great boost, and it kept the winning mentality and the momentum going.” He is quoted by The Mirror.
“But we know that it’s going to be difficult in our next few games, so we’ll have to keep focused and hopefully we can keep putting in performances like that.
“There’s always room for improvement and I’m sure we’ll work on that.
“But we’ve got to be very pleased with the three results. We’ll continue to keep working and keep building by working hard on the training ground.
“A lot of the lads are now on international duty, but from the people who are here, there’s a good aura about the place.”
Liverpool are yet to concede a league goal, and have also dispatched of Notts County during a Capital One Cup encounter – albeit courtesy of two goals in extra time.
Henderson has started all three top flight matches, despite speculation that his spot in the starting XI could be under serious threat from the fit again Joe Allen.
Can Liverpool challenge for the top four? Or is it too soon to get carries away?
