Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Willian has admitted that he would be open to a move to Liverpool.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the playmaker over the course of the last few days, after his Russian employers put their whole first-team squad up for sale.
As one of their star names, Willian has attracted much attention despite only having signed for the club from Shakhtar Donetsk in January in a £30m deal.
Liverpool are thought to be leading the race for his signature, with speculation suggesting that they have already opened negotiations with Anzhi.
Even though the Anfield side will not be in the Champions League or Europa League for the 2013/14 campaign, Willian revealed that he is hopeful that a switch can be arranged.
“For now, all there is are talks. I haven’t received anything official yet,” he told ESPN Brasil.
“There was the Manchester City bid [a few weeks ago, of €40 million (£34.1m)], that was turned down and that was a while ago.
“Now I’m waiting for a new bid to arrive in the next days from a few clubs, like Liverpool. If it’s really Liverpool, then it is surely a great club. I’m hopeful and very calm, just waiting for the best.”
Liverpool are said to be keen to draft in Willian to line him up alongside Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge to create a strong attacking quartet.
Can Liverpool really pull of a move for Willian? And could the Brazilian fire them ino the top four?
