Brendan Rodgers keen on French playmaker

Hatem Ben Arfa

Brendan Rodgers could make a shock move for Hatem Ben Arfa in the summer as part of an exchange deal that could involve the return of Andy Carroll to Newcastle United, according the Guardian.

The 25 year old attacking midfielder has been admired from afar by Brendan Rodgers for a while. The Liverpool manager is keen to boost his midfield next season and will be hoping to lure Ben Arfa away from Newcastle despite the midfielder speaking of his ambition to join France club PSG.

Ben-Arfa has 3 years left on his current contract and could attract a considerable sum for his transfer out of the Tyneside club could possibly be part of an exchange deal with Andy Carroll. Out of favour Carroll is on loan at West Ham and at the moment and Liverpool will be looking to sell him after they couldn’t get West Ham to agree to buy him at the end of the season.

Alan Pardew has an empty void to fill in the team after Demba Ba went to Chelsea and it is said that Andy Carroll is a consideration for taking that place.
