Brendan Rodgers believes Liverpool can fight for a top-four place next season – as long as the right players come in this summer.
The Reds are destined to finish seventh this term but have been on an impressive run of late with Sunday’s 3-1 win at Fulham extending their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven games.
Daniel Sturridge’s hat-trick and another outstanding display from fellow January signing Philippe Coutinho points to a brighter future and Rodgers is sure, if he can add to his squad over the summer, Liverpool can enjoy a better 2013-14 campaign.
“I think we can have an exciting season next year,” he said. “We can build towards that but we need more depth, we need some more [players] in the summer.
“If we can do that we will be looking to make a real sustainable challenge next year for the top four.”
A priority for Rodgers is a centre-back to replace the retiring Jamie Carragher while he will also be on the look-out for another striker to complement Luis Suarez, Sturridge and Fabio Borini.
