Bundelsiga heavyweights have made an approach for talented Liverpool attacker

German giants Schalke are keen on Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic and have already made an informal enquiry about the attacking midfielder’s availability, according to reports from Goal.

The Serbian has recently returned to Merseyside after a season on loan at Fenerbahce and has since featured heavily in pre-season action under Jurgen Klopp.

However, despite having only been signed in the summer of 2014 for £20m, and having had a turbulent debut campaign in England under Brendan Rodgers, it’s claimed that the Reds are open to letting him leave before the close of the current transfer window.

Portuguese outfit Sporting CP have been aligned with him, but reports now claim that Schalke are interested, and that they’ve made a tentative approach to the 22-year-old’s representatives regarding a move.

The Gelsenkirchen outfit are seemingly resigned to losing Leroy Sane – Manchester City are interested – and see the former Benfica winger as a direct replacement.
