Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to source competition for current No.1 Simon Mignolet, something which summer 2015 signing Adam Bogdan has failed to adequately provide since arriving from Bolton Wanderers.
In recent weeks, that has seen the Merseyside outfit repeatedly linked with the highly-rated Karius, who is currently employed by Klopp’s former club Mainz.
The 22-year-old has been in good form this season, notching up 86 saves and nine assists in 34 Bundesliga outings, and is tipped for a bright future with the German national team.
According to Mirror Football, the 6 foot 2 shot-stopper has now arrived on Merseyside to undergo a medical and complete a £4.7million transfer to Liverpool.
He’ll become Liverpool’s second official signing of the summer, having already announced Joel Matip’s arrival from FC Schalke on a free transfer.
