CL outfit confirm transfer talks with Liverpool, Euro 2016 ace set to move

Fenerbahce have confirmed they’re in talks with Liverpool regarding the potential transfer of Martin Skrtel, via their official club website.

The rugged centre-half has just come to the end of his eighth full campaign on Merseyside after signing from Zenit St. Petersburg in January 2008.

Hes gone on to lift a Capital One Cup with the Reds and represent them over 300 times across all competitions – including 27 outings last season.

But it appears the Slovakian international – who made four appearances for his country at Euro 2016 – will leave Anfield before the start of next season.

Having madeĀ just four Premier League starts in 2016 , Skrtel has been linked with a number of Turkish clubs in recent weeks, namely Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

But the latter club were always believed to be leading the pack and have now confirmed the much-speculatedĀ talks with Liverpool via their official club website.

Aged 31 and into the final two terms of his Liverpool contract, Skrtel’s fee will likely be below eight figures.
