Confirmed starting Xis: Liverpool vs Manchester City

No folks, you’re not suffering a bout of deja vu and we’re not reporting three days late – for the second time in 96 hours, Liverpool face Manchester City.

Things are a little different to Sunday’s installment. For starters, we’re dealing with a Premier League fixture rather than a Capital One Cup final and exhaustion from the 120-minute contest, eventually decided by penalty shootout, will probably have some effect on tonight’s match.

Despite succumbing to defeat at the weekend, Liverpool will fancy themselves for this one. They’ve beaten the Citizens four times in their last six encounters, including a 4-1 thumping at the Etihad back in November.

But City are desperate for points, currently ten behind league leaders Leicester City albeit with a game in hand, and that aforementioned Capital One Cup success could well inspire a greater level of performance from them for the remainder of the campaign.

So who’ll come out on top in this one? Perhaps the official starting Xis, confirmed on Twitter just moments ago, can shed some light on the likeliest outcome.
