Crocked Liverpool star Danny Ings has poured cold water over suggestions he could return earlier than expected following his long term injury, according to the Daily Mail.
The 23-year old arrived at Anfield this summer as former club Burnley were relegated to the Championship, but suffered a season ending cruciate ligament injury while training.
He had been beginning to adjust to life on Merseyside at the time and had recently made his England debut before falling foul to the ailment.
There had been a school of thought that the former Bournemouth ace would be able to play again this season, though the initial six month prognosis now looks somewhat optimistic.
‘When I got the injury, I said straight away I will play again this season’, revealed Ings.
‘But I think with advice I’ve had off surgeons and physios, I know they won’t risk me and I won’t risk myself.’
It means it’s doubtful that Ings will play under Jurgen Klopp at all this season as he was injured during the Brendan Rodgers regime in October.
The Reds are flying high under Klopp after an impressive run are now just six points off top spot heading into Sunday’s clash with Newcastle.
