Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is set to redo his entire pre-season schedule over the coming weeks in an effort to boost his fitness, report the Daily Mail.
The England striker has started just one game under manager Jurgen Klopp, who was appointed in October, and hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury two weeks ago.
Over the past two seasons, the 26-year old has missed large chunks of first-team action with a variety of different ailments.
In an effort to get to the bottom of his chronic injury problems, Klopp has put the player on his own programme over the festive period.
Effectively, the former Man City and Chelsea forward will conduct a pre-season schedule over the course of the next few weeks.
He will not be in contention for the next three league games, starting against Leicester tomorrow, but it is hoped the training regime will help in his recovery.
‘Daniel Sturridge is doing his own little pre-season in a good way, seven to 10 days like this and we will see’, revealed the 46-year old former Borussia Dortmund coach.
