Defensive duo lead the way as Liverpool plot five more additions

Liverpool are ready to add five more players to their squad this summer, with Charlton’s Joe Gomez and Southampton ace Nathaniel Clyne two of their major targets, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Reds have already been active in the transfer market since the close of the 2014/15 campaign, with Bosman deals for James Milner Adam Bogdan and Danny Ings having all been agreed – albeit the latter will command an as of yet unknown compensation fee due to his age.

And reports claim that Brendan Rodgers is not yet done, with deals for FIVE more players on his agenda.

Gomez of Charlton is thought to be a major target, with a swoop for the Charlton teenager in line to go through by the end of the week.

The Merseysiders are also confident of snapping up Clyne in the not too distant future.

The identities of the remaining three players wanted are unclear, although there have been links with the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino.
