Mario Balotelli is back in the headlines – although you could argue he never leaves them – and, this time, it’s because he’s spoken about his seemingly frosty relationship with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Italian striker left Merseyside after a less than successful spell for Nice in the south of France over the summer and has duly found some form – scoring five goals in three league games.
This has led many to question where on earth that form was during his Liverpool stay, but it appears as though his discord with his German coach had a part to play in his departure as well as him never getting to show such form at Anfield.
The striker alleges that when he returned from a loan spell at AC Milan last season, he was just instructed to leave Liverpool by Klopp and the two never really got around to getting to knowing one another.
Proof of a breakdown in communication has come from Sky Sport Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has tweeted what the striker told the media outlet:
Balotelli to Sky Sport Italy: "Klopp? I don't know him. He just told me to leave #LFC on loan and then to come back. I said: 'Thanks, bye'"

A frosty relationship indeed, but it looks as though both parties are doing well with Liverpool flying in the league and Nice top of Ligue 1.
