Liverpool have announced the free signing of Manchester City midfielder James Milner, subject to a medical.
The England international had been linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool both thought to be interested in signature, and Brendan Rodgers’ Reds have managed tempt him away from the two-time Premier League champions.
Milner, 29, has reportedly turned down a contract extension thought to be worth £165,000-a-week, and has instead agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

Milner won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League cup during his five years with City and Rodgers will be hoping his experience can help boost Liverpool’s chances of at least returning to the top four after missing out this season.
The midfielder, who has been capped 53 times for England, has previously enjoyed spells at Leeds United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
Liverpool have confirmed Milner will officially sign for them on July 1 once his Etihad contract expires.
