Mario Balotelli will put a difficult opening spell at Liverpool behind him and go on to be an Anfield success, according to his former AC Milan team-mate Michael Essien.
The Ghanaian midfielder – who made over 150 appearances for Chelsea – starred alongside the controversial forward at the San Siro before his £16m switch to Merseyside over the summer.
In his spell at Milan Balotelli was not without his critics, with many former players and officials having spoken of a sense of relief at selling the 24-year-old.
Although ‘Balo’ has shown signs of an improved attitude and a willingness to work hard at Liverpool since his arrival, he has been slammed by some pundits and fans for his meagre goal return – he’s only netted once so far.
However Essien has faith his former team-mate and believes that he will come good:
“Mario is a good person,” he is quoted by talkSPORT. “We are great friends, we already knew each other before we met at Milan.
“Then he left Milan but I’m sure he will have a great future. He still has to work hard to improve, but he has all the qualities to be a top player.”
