Ex-Liverpool man Karius’ latest post will bring back bad memories for Reds fans

Football Writers' Association: Opening the Door to BAME Journalists

It’s been well over a year since Loris Karius’ awful showing in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, but we can imagine many Liverpool fans still wake up screaming after nightmares about the German goalkeeper’s performance that day in Kiev.

He may now be on loan away from the club, but he’s still up to his old tricks, making mistakes and duly apologising for them on Instagram.

Look away now if you’re a Reds fan who suffered any sort of PTSD after the goalkeeper single-handedly cost you the Champions League in 2018.

I know this game hurts. Us as a team and you fans. You can be angry and disappointed. I take responsibility for the first goal this ball has to be cleared better. After that, we still could have won this game. Things didn’t go our way. Also with the late goal we conceded. But please, let’s all stick together. The whole club. There is still everything to play for this season. We have an important game on Monday night. We need your Support right now to get through this. Lets be together and get 3 points Monday. The whole team will give everything on the pitch for you. ?

Yes, it’s more of the same from Karius, as he once again took to Instagram to apologise to the fans after making a costly error.

Unfortunately, it reads in a very similar way to the apology he posted after that fateful match against Real Madrid.

It’s almost impossible to read this latest post and not feel like we’re right back in 2018 again.

It’s probably best that any member of the Anfield faithful who still has flashbacks to the loss in Kiev unfollows Karius on Instagram, as these long wordy apologies only bring back bad memories, and we can’t imagine that this is the last time he will have to write such a caption.

Sorry Loris.
