Liverpool have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign young defender Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle, to the delight of fans.

It is the first deal of the summer for the Reds, who won the Champions League and came second in the Premier League in 2018/19.

The club have confirmed that the 17-year-old has penned a long-term contract at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp looks to the future this summer.

Van den Berg made his first-team breakthrough at PEC Zwolle last season, making a total of 15 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Zwolle finished 13^th in the Dutch top-flight, six points clear of the relegation play-off places.

Van den Berg has also won four caps for the Netherlands Under-19s and will hope to break into Klopp’s plans in the near future.
