The first name on the ‘marquee signings’ list has to be PSG star Javier Pastore, who has has recently emerged in the tabloids as a prime January target for the Reds.
The Argentine was one of the French Champions’ first mega-signings, sourced from Palermo for a whopping £35million in 2011.
But the attacking midfielder hasn’t quite lived up to expectations for the Parisians, with 24 goals and 16 assists in 90 appearances, and he’s now beginning to slide down the pecking order as PSG continually add to their stellar cast.
But plenty of Premier League clubs, including the Reds, Arsenal and Chelsea, are now considering taking a punt on the 24 year-old in January, who is still highly-rated throughout Europe despite his lukewarm form.
Pastore has failed to get off the mark this season, but regular speculation over his future has undoubtedly disrupted his performances, and he’d certainly add quality to the Anfield roster.
Signing him would also be a signal of great ambition in the transfer market from Brendan Rodgers, providing he can shake off competition from other Premier League clubs.
According to the tabloids, the attacking midfielder, who can operate on either flank or in a central role, could be available for around £20million in the winter window.
