Five January options for Liverpool amid Mane issues
To say the Liverpool garden is rosy would be an understatement at the moment. Indeed, there doesn’t appear to be a cloud in the sky for the Merseysiders, who are atop the Premier League, have scored more goals than any other side in the division and are, arguably, playing the best football in England right now.
Much of the above is down to their quite frankly brilliant front three players, with Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, having formed a triumvirate that is stopping even Daniel Sturridge – arguably the best English goal-getter – out of the side.
However, there is cause for concern, chiefly that Mane will be away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations from early January for potentially a month, while Danny Ings’ season-ending knee injury has cut off a stand-in option already. Klopp has spoken of the need to sign someone in the New Year, and a plethora of reports regarding targets have emerged since.
