Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side have suffered an enormous blow with Sadio Mané departing Merseyside to join up with the Senegal national team for the African Cup of Nations.
The tournament angers the majority of Premier League supporters every other year, as some of the league's best stars depart for the continent of Africa, with the vast majority absent for four-six weeks depending on their national side's progress.
Mané, who joined in the summer from Southampton, left the Reds following the team's 2-2 draw with Sunderland. His absence will deal Liverpool a significant blow in their pursuit of a first Premier League crown, but Klopp has the chance to sign a replacement for Mané this winter.
Not only would a signing cover the Reds in the short-term, but also prepare Klopp for life with European football for next season.
Without further delay, here are FIVE players he should consider signing this January to fill Mané's void.
Quincy Promes - Spartak Moscow
Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes is the most logical replacement for the departing Mané as the Dutch international has similar attributes to the Senegal forward.
According to recent reports from the Daily Mirror, Klopp has identified Promes as the club's top priority this January and he would also add depth to the squad as they go in search of European football next season.
Promes can offer width, pace and goals, which could push the Reds over the line in the title race.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - Arsenal
If there was ever a player who needed a Jurgen Klopp arm around his shoulder, it would be Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Arsenal winger has just eighteen months remaining on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, and Klopp could take advantage of that in January.
Chamberlain is still only 23-years-old, but his career has stagnated in North London. A move to Liverpool could see him become the player heralded when he first arrived in the top flight.
Bruma - Galatasaray
Former Portugal under 23 international Bruma has been mentioned as a potential Premier League import for some time.
Liverpool should attempt to swoop in and win the race for his signature - Bruma has consistently impressed during his time in Turkey and could prove a bargain signing for Jurgen Klopp.
Julian Brandt - Bayer Leverkusen
20-years-old, Brandt became the first teenager in the Bundesliga to score in six consecutive matches since Gerd Muller last season.
His form has carried over to this term also, scoring two goals and assisting five in the league.
A £15million fee seems like the right ballpark and Brandt would be a more than welcome addition to the Liverpool squad.
Isco - Real Madrid
Real Madrid midfielder Isco is struggling for game time with the La Liga leaders, having played only 600 minutes this season.
Able to play across the flanks and midfield, Isco would be a superb signing for the Reds and an enormous statement of intent from the Merseysiders. The Spain international also has just eighteen months remaining on his current contract.
Likely to be the most expensive signing on the list, you ultimately get what you pay for and Isco's quality would instantly boost the Liverpool starting XI.
