As if Luis Suarez hasn’t made himself enough of a target for the British media over the past few years, the Liverpool forward has now announced he intends to leave the Premier League over the course of the summer due to the incessant bullying on the part of the press, with little support from his club in the process.
The Uruguayan may have a point; you can’t go through a social media site nowadays without a meme poking fun at Suarez. Then again, you get what you deserve, and if you bite someone in front of a whole stadium of supporters, not to mention the millions of viewers watching at home and online, you have to accept you’ve made yourself open to criticism.
Bullying or not, the Reds, despite sternly warning that Suarez is not for sale, will most likely be on the prowl for a replacement striker in the summer.
Just in case Brendan Rodgers is short of ideas, we’ve complied a list of the FIVE forwards who could fill Suarez’s shoes at Anfield.
