Well-respected European football expert Guillem Balague believes Liverpool should avoid Jurgen Klopp and appoint Gary McAllister as interim boss for the rest of the season before bringing in Bayer Leverkusen tactician Roger Schmidt.
The Reds are currently without a head coach after sacking Brendan Rodgers on Sunday following a 1-1 draw with Everton, and reports have since claimed that Klopp may be in place by the end of the week.
The German gaffer is currently out of work after leaving Dortmund at the end of last season, but his stock remains high given that he won two Bundesliga titles with BVB despite the financial clout of Bayern Munich.
However, Balague has had his say on Twitter, and he believes that Klopp is holding out for the job at the Allianz Arena, so Liverpool’s best option may be to bump assistant manager McAllister up to the hot-seat before securing Leverkusen’s highly-rated manager Schmidt next summer:
“I think Klopp is waiting for Bayern. That doesn’t stop his people talking to LFC [Liverpool]. I’d give it [the job] to McAllister and in the summer Roger Schmidt.”
