Former Liverpool and Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez is already facing the axe at Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports expert Guillem Balague.
Benitez watched his side be demolished 4-0 at home by arch rivals Barcelona in yesterday’s El Clasico.
Despite only taking over from Carlo Ancelotti this summer, the 55-year old is understood to be nearing exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu after only five months at the helm.
The sobering defeat was only his second in sixteen games as Los Blancos coach, but Balague believes there will be consequences.
‘It has to have consequences, that’s how Real Madrid works’, stated the La Liga expert.
‘Of course, Rafa is not the only one to blame, but it’s almost much easier to get rid of the manager’, he added.
The Madrid club have won one league title in seven years, despite lavishly spending huge money on top class attacking talent.
Over recent seasons they have signed the likes of Gareth Bale for £86m, James Rodriguez for £71m and Isco for £32m.
After the Blaugrana ran riot over their side, the home fans called for the resignation of club president Florentino Perez.
It could be a year of transition in the Spanish capital, with £80m all-time top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo heavily linked with a move away.
