We’re now in the height of international limbo. World Cup qualifiers and friendlies are bubbling away in the background, replacing the buzz of the Premier League, which, perhaps more so for Liverpool than any other side in England, has come at a bad time.

The Reds are currently surfing the crest of a wave of form that’s seen them move clear at the top of the Premier League table and become the division’s leading scorers, so Kopites could be forgiven for looking at the current fixture list with a feeling of anger. If it de-rails their title push, there will be plenty of ill-feeling on the banks of the Mersey.

However, there is one advantage for fans on the lookout for the next big Liverpool star, in that some of the club’s mooted transfer targets will be an action across the globe. With that in mind, here are FOUR to keep an eye out for…

Christian Pulisic

Seemingly a player Klopp is desperate to lure to Liverpool from Dortmund, Pulisic was supposedly the subject of a late summer offer from the Reds, while reports over the course of the past week have claimed he remains a target heading into January.

The versatile attacking midfielder is away with the American national team for their World Cup qualifiers against Mexico and Costa Rica and is sure to feature heavily given his stunning performances across his nine matches for the USMNT.

Mahmoud Dahoud

Although not in the senior Germany squad with Emre Can, Dahoud is away at the moment representing his nation’s U-21s. A 1-0 win over Turkey’s young side has already taken place, but the silky playmaker is likely to be back in action next week against Poland.

A supposed long-term target, the classy ball-player could be a real cog in Klopp’s midfield machine.

Sead Kolasinac

Even though James Milner is shining in his new left-back role, there remains a feeling the Merseysiders could do with an orthodox player to fill the position, so links with Schalke’s soon-to-be-free-agent Kolasinac have been greeted positively.

The versatile defender, who can also play at centre-back, is away with the Bosnian set-up for their coming clash against Greece, which is one they really need to win with three points separating the Zmajevis from their rivals in second spot in Group H.

Max Meyer

Competition for places in the German national side is intense to say the least, but Meyer will be hopeful of some game time with San Marino in World Cup qualification ‘action’ and a friendly against Italy on the agenda.

The silky playmaker, aligned with Liverpool of late, only has three caps to his name, but in a rather experimental Germany squad – only three of his midfield rivals have more than ten international outings to their name – he may well add to that tally and potentially notch his second goal in the process.
