Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will go on to become “one of this country’s greatest ever players”, according to former England striker Gary Lineker.
Alexander-Arnold made it 12 Premier League assists for the 2019/20 campaign with two in Monday night’s 3-2 win over West Ham United.
The right-back now has 14 assists in 37 appearances in all competitions during the current season.
The 21-year-old finished last season with 12 assists in the Premier League but looks set to better that total before the end of the campaign.
Alexander-Arnold has actually only made nine appearances for England, though, and has been an unused substitute in three of their last six internationals.
It is very, very difficult to imagine a scenario where the defender is not a key part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for this summer’s European Championships.
And Lineker, who took to social media on Tuesday afternoon, has reserved special praise for the talented full-back.
The former striker’s post can be seen below:

Meanwhile, journalist James Pearce criticised the performance of one Liverpool player in Monday’s 3-2 win over West Ham.
